Anitápolis
One and a half hour’s drive from Florianopolis is the small town of Anitápolis, which is the hub of an area of colonial farmland dating back to the beginning of the twentieth century. The area is characterised by its self sufficiency, due to the quality and abundance of local produce and trade. It has also developed additional revenues through eco tourism and rural tourism. The scenery of this area is superb, boasting dozens of waterfalls and ravines.
Farms and Local industry
On your trip you will meet a number of farmers who offer the warmest of welcomes. You will be shown around farms, and have the opportunity to learn about other local industries such as bee-keeping and fishing.
Local Fare
One thing you won’t experience on this trip is hunger pangs! We will lunch and dine at local farmhouses, where our hosts will treat us to organic home grown meat, poultry and vegetables, using traditional recipes. The food is simple, but beautifully fresh and tasty. You will enjoy milk fresh from the cow and home made ice cream. We will also stop for a ‘Cafe Colonial’ in the afternoons - tea and coffee and freshly baked cakes. You will have the opportunity to buy local produce such as eggs, jam, honey and marmalade direct from the farmer.
Treks and local activities
The countryside of this area is characterised by lush vegetation and dramatic rivers and waterfalls. There are a number of treks to suit all levels. If walking is not your thing, you can stay ‘back at the ranch’ and fish or just relax in a hammock and enjoy the views! |
