Day Trips

Centro

Take a cultural tour of the centre of Florianopolis, and get a feel for its colonial history. There are numerous buildings of historical interest, including the city cathedral and the original customs house. Of the various small museums in the centre, the most interesting are the Museum of Mankind, the Historical Museum and the museum of painter Victor Mereilles. We will end our trip in the vibrant public market, where you can buy arts, crafts and local goods, or just watch the locals haggle for their fish!  The main bar in the public market is the perfect spot to people watch over a beer or a caipirinha. Half day/full day tour available depending on how much you would like to see!

The South: Ribeirão da Ilha e Naufragados

This trip starts with a drive down to the south west tip of the island, where we will take a short trek to the beach at Naufragados, which cannot be accessed by road. After relaxing and taking a dip, we can either walk back, or catch a ride with a fishing boat in time for lunch. Ribeirăo da Ilha on the south west coast has number of superb restaurants for you to choose from. Like Sambaqui, Ribeirăo da Ilha  was originally an Azorean settlement, and still has many of the original buildings. After lunch, you can take a stroll around the village and visit the Eco-museum. Full day tour.

Lagoa/Costa da Lagoa and Praia Mole

We will start our day in the town of Lagoa da Conceiçăo which sits alongside the a large lagoon in the middle of the island. You can choose between a gentle two hour walk, or a ½ hour water taxi to the small fishing village of Costa da Lagoa, which cannot be accessed by car. Here you can look around the handful of arts and craft shops, go for a short walk to the waterfall or take a dip in one of the small beaches on the edge of the lagoon. We will have lunch in one of the superb fish restaurants, before taking a water taxi back. We can spend the afternoon at one of the most famous beaches on the island - Praia Mole - known for its great surf, vibrant beach bars, and beautiful surroundings. Full day tour

Armação and Campeche Island

A boat ride from the beautiful coastal town of Armaçăo will take you to the deserted island of Campeche off the south east coast of the island. There are various trails on the island, with some impressive prehistoric carvings to discover. You can choose between a picnic on the island’s beach, or a late seafood lunch at one of Armaçăo’s restaurants. If we have time, we can relax on neighbouring Matadeiro beach, which we think is one of the prettiest beaches on the island. Full day tour.

Forte de São José and Praia do Forte

Forte de Săo José was built in 1742 to guard the northern approaches. A visit to the fort is rewarding not only for its historical interest, but also for the superb views it offers to the north. Five minutes walk from the fort is one of our favourite beaches, Praia do Forte, where you can usually find a quiet spot and wonderful views out to the mainland. ½ day tour.
