Praia do Rosa

One and a half hours drive from Florianopolis is the beautiful resort of Praia do Rosa. The large white sandy beach is enclosed by lush hillsides, making it one of the prettiest beaches in Sta Caterina. While there are bars and restaurants to suit all tastes, the town has a very relaxed atmosphere, and is rarely overcrowded.

Whale watching at Garopaba

Between mid-June and mid-November, Garopaba is the most popular place on the Brazilian coast for whale watching. An organised tour with an experienced operator will almost certainly guarantee you a viewing of adult and calve whales.

Kite Surfing or Windsurfing at Ibiraquera

70 km from Florianopolis, Ibiraquera is one of Brazils top wave riding surf beaches. If surf and waves are your thing, this one or two day trip is well worth the 1 ½ hrs drive. Big open sweeping Atlantic beach that favours 12-20 knot North Easterly trade winds.
