Ratones to Lagoa

Starting in the farmland area of Ratones, you will take a steady climb through forest and bamboo until you reach the top of the hill overlooking Lagoa. A slightly stepper climb down will take you to a beautiful quiet beach on the edge of the Lagoon where you can swim in clear waters before enjoying your picnic lunch.

Araças to Costa da Lagoa

This trek follows an historic colonial path along the west bank of Lagoa through woodland and across a number of streams. Along the way you will see fishing areas, old colonial huts and artisan cottages. You can cool off at one of the beaches on the way, or at a waterfall. The trail ends at Costa da Lagoa, a small fishing village which can only be reached on foot or by boat. There are a handful of restaurants here where you can have lunch before making your way back either on foot or by taking a water taxi.
Time: 2 hours one way Difficulty: easy. Mainly flat with paving in some areas, and clearly marked. Full day trek

Armação to Lagoinha do Leste

This trek begins in the fishing town of Armaçăo and then follows the Matadeiro beach before taking a steady uphill climb through woodland. The path opens out to a flatter walk through meadow for some time, before taking a downhill turn to the deserted beach of Lagoinha do Leste. On the way you will see incredible views of the south east coast, looking back towards Campeche island, and inland towards Lagoa da Peri. After a break for a picnic lunch and a dip on the beach, you can either make your way back along the same path, or continue to Pântano do Sul. (See the next trek).
Time: 2 hours each way. Difficulty: medium to hard, with some steep climbs in places. Full day trek
